Helping the poor and needy was always a desire for Daffodils and we take pain and effort to identify the needy in this society and always committed to help them. As an effort to promote our charity works, Daffodils has decided to help the initiative taken by the Sharjah Indian Association. We have decided to give air tickets to the prisoners who are still suffering the consequences even though the term they have to serve is met because of insufficient funds to take a return ticket back home. We have promised to give at least 4 tickets for them….
Friends… please come forward and do your best….For transfer details please contact any of the daffodils representatives... Last day for contribution is 25th September 2006.

Daffodils Meet - 2006 < News Updated on 26th August 2006, Saturday >
As part of the first anniversary celebration of D.I.D and with regard to the official launching of two web sites www.daffodilsindesert.com and www.thusharam.com created by D.I.D members, D.I.D UAE Chapter met on 25th August 2006 Friday evening. About 30 members joined the get-together which was conducted at Sun Flower Restaurant Dubai. As decided earlier, gathering started with an attractive self-introduction program for all participants, directed by Mr. Muneerudheen. After a short break for tea, all members divided to three groups and conducted group discussions on D.I.D group-related subjects. Kareem Mash, Jaisal, Saify Hussain leaded the groups respectively and presented the final report of the group discussions to the audience.
Official inauguration of websites was followed by games and other activities. Chief Guest of the meeting was Mr. Ramesh Payynur, one of the prominent personalities in UAE media field. He is currently serving as the Program Director of Asianet Radio. The meeting was presided by Mr. Prasanth, Middles East Coordinator of D.I.D. Mr. Arif officially invited the members and the Chief Guest. Further, the Chief Guest officially inaugurated two websites, which was followed by his addressing the audience. Also prize was awarded to Mr. Salih, the winner of writing contest, which was conducted for group members on behalf of the first anniversary celebrations. Time was conveniently used for congratulate Anees Kodiyathoor, Drizzle and Aneesh Puthalath for their valuable contribution in setting up the two websites. Ms Susha, representative of D.I.D Moderators closed the meet officially with thanksgiving. There was a Gala dinner for the participants after the meet.
The meeting was adjourned with vows and decisions from the group members, that we would strive more for the betterment of the group and generate activities, which lies aside with our motto….
S.K.Cheruvath wins literary award < News Updated on 29th July 2006, Saturday >
S.K.Cheruvath (Salih Kallada) has been selected for the Daffodils In Desert first anniversary literary award for his travalogue "Oru Kanyakumari yathra - Nashtavasanthathin Swapnayathra", which narrates the experience of his journey to Kanyakumari. S.K.Cheruvath's work was chosen from over 6 entries of Daffodils In Desert members by a different method of evaluation. Group Moderators decided to let group memebers decide the winner. Further, a poll was opened in group and members voted for concerned work after reading the six entries.

As a part of first anniversary celebrations, Daffodils In Desert announced a writing contest for its members. Subject for the contest is 'oru yathra vivaranama or a travalogue'.Entries should be either in Malayalam or in English. All members have to send their entries to daffodils.mods@gmail.com on or before 19th July 2006. Award is sponsored by Daffodils In Desert, Qatar Chapter.

Members meet of Daffodils In Desert is scheduled in Qatar and U.A.E to discuss the programs for first anniversary. U.A.E Chapter members will be met at Karama Park, Dubai on 14th July 2006 at 04 pm. U.A.E Members are requested to coordinate with Mr.Drizzle (050 8675371) or Shanthettan (050 8423439). Qatar Members will meet on 14th July 2006 at 2 p.m. Location will be announced soon. Qatar members are requested to coordinate with Mr. Suhas (5807309) or Shaji (5256483). .
U.A.E Medical Camp - First Day <News Updated on 24th June 2006, Saturday >
The scheduled Medical Camp in association with Jansons Star Medical Camp started on 23rd June 2006. There were a team of 7 dedicated doctors including doctors who specializes in Urology, Ophthalmology, for medical check up and giving medical advises to the participants. Normal medical tests like sugar identification, Blood pressure and other routine check ups and also cholesterol check were done during the medical camp, entirely free of cost. Also, further to the discussion with Clinic authorities, they have agreed to provide a fees discount of 20% for those who participated in this medical camp.
More than 150 persons utilized the first day of the medical camp dated 23rd June. It is expected that more people will utilize the second day of Medical camp, which will be held on 30th of June.
Daffodils In Desert Moderator, Mrs.Susha George presided the inauguration ceremony where Mr. Narayanan Veliyankode (Bhasha Magazine Director) inaugurated the Medical Camp. Further, Mr.V.S.Mohan (M.D, Jansons Star Poly Clinic) orated a brief about Medical Camp.
